Searching for the Spiral is a story about the inner journey of the "artist-mother" to find a meaning in the quotidian that runs parallel to the existential crisis of the outside world by following the primordial spiral-shape. She self-documents how she moves through the cognitive, sacred and cultural-historical landscape. Different layers of time are dissolved through storytelling that turns into speculative fiction: Who is telling the story? The search for the spiral takes her from her roots in Småland to Glastonbury and Lyme Regis. It doesn't take long until an inner conflict develops in the search for "abundance", a doubt about being able to turn off the brain and instead feeling and receiving with the heart.

I filmen Searching for the Spiral söker konstnärens alter-ego Konstnärsmamman efter andlig mening och spirituell gemenskap i en tid präglad av sociala och politiska kriser. Genomgående i filmen är det kameran som är konstnärens förlängning av öga och hand. Vi möter fossiler, stenformationer och landskap som om de penslats fram med otålig nyfikenhet, andra gånger är det nästan som om de rörliga bilderna strukits upp med en långsam och noggrann hand.

Filmen har ett mer intuitivt förhållningsätt än konstnärens tidigare videoverk. Platser kopplas ihop och flyter samman, Glastonbury följer Småland, barnen finns med kring Konstnärsmamman när research och filminspelningar genomförs. Kvar dröjer sig en längtan efter att ge sig ut i naturen och lyssna till berättelserna från omgivande landskap.
